The woodpeckers and other birds hatch in the hollows of the black alders. White alders grow only up to 20 m in height. They are very important for the preservation of the biological variety in the wood ecosystem.
The pine and fir forest of Šventa. The total territory of the forest is 90 ha. Cycling through the woods could be very exciting for biologists and other nature lover, as it is rich in biological variety, e.g. there are about 25 various anthills of the brown ant in the forest of Šventa at the moment.
The barrow of Šventa. It was established in the land of Nalšia in the IX – XII centuries. There are 30 barrows extant in the forest. Interesting that there has been found a skeleton of a horse in one of the barrows.

The cemetery of Aučynai village is one of six working in the territory of the park belonging to the landscape reserve of the villages of Pailgis. First people were buried here about 1800. In the cemetery the rebel of 1941 Juozas Šalna has been buried.
The mound of Aučynai was pitched in the land of Nalšia, not far from the lakes Ilgis and Salotis. It is an oblong hill in the shape of the truncated cone and with a scarp. The field of the mound is already difficult to define; it is oval one, about 20 m in length and 15 m in width. The defence was not detected on the mound, only the sides are sharp, up to 11 m in height. The archaeological researches showed that on the western base of the mound there possibly existed an old settlement.

In the reserve one can find all types if wetlands. In the telmological reserve there are a lot of rare birds living, the black stork flies here to feed. From a viewpoint of the biological variety, this is a very valued teritory. It is necessary to employ all possible protecting measures to preserve this unique natural corner.
