Aglona - Cirīši - Aglona

Aglona is situated between two lakes - Cirīšu and Aglonas that gives a great opportunity for active rest in this area – to swim, to fish, to go by boat etc. The only Bread museum in Latvia is situated there.
Basilica of Aglona and its territory is a national monument of culture and a sacral place of international importance. The landscape of the basilica is noticeable for its 60 m high steeples built in 1768-1800. There is an altar’s picture “Aglona Miraculous Virgin” and it is famous for its remedial abilities. The Pope has visited Basilica in 1993. Every year in the middle of August thousands of pilgrims come to visit the Basilica.
Aglona sacred spring. One of the oldest and the most famous springs in Latgale. It is famous for its healing qualities.
Cirīša Nature Park and Cirīša nature path. Protected area of 1260 ha. It is protected since 1931. The main value of the park is Cirīšu lake with its 8 islands. There are many protected plant and animal species found in the territory of the park.
Ruskuļu Big Stone – archaeological monument (perimeter is 5,80m, length – 3,80m).
Fintmuiža. There are two grand oaks to be found on the territory of the Fintmuiža manor park. The girth of the bigger oak is 5 m.
Upursala. Nature reserve. The island is the only island in the lake with hilly landscape. From history it is known that people used the island for rituals, celebrations and meetings.
Cirīša HES. The reservoir of Cirīšu small hydro power station consists of 6 lakes.
